MFW Hosts 2nd Annual Emerging Designer Competition
Miami Fashion Week® is hosting the 2nd annual Emerging Designer competition as organizers search for the best new designers in Florida to participate in the grand opening prelude for the Miami Style Showcase on opening night.
Designers specializing in men's wear and women's wear (day and evening) who reside and work in Florida will be reviewed for acceptance in the prelude.
The Miami Style Prelude and Showcase will take place March 19, 2009 at SOHO Studios in the Wynwood Art District. The show will be attended by local, national and international press, buyers, celebrities and VIP guests as your newest collections are presented to the world. One designer will be chosen as the "Best Emerging Designer of the Year" and presented with an award at the closing Miami Moda Awards® show on March 22, 2009. The judges ruling is final.
For designers to be eligible for participation in the prelude, the following requirements must be met:
1. Designer must have been in business for a minimum of two (2) years but less than (5) years continually designing collections with a minimum of two (2) collections per year.
2. Designer must produce a minimum of 10 pieces per collection.
3. Designer must be selling garments in at least one store.
4. Designer must live and work in the State of Florida.
If you meet the requirements, designers are requested to submit six photos of actual garments, (no sketches please) and a biography to info@miamifashionweek.com
Five designers will be chosen to present four outfits each in the prelude. All costs for the prelude will be paid by MFW. Designers are responsible for all travel costs and the costs of producing the four outfits. The winning designers must provide shoes and accessories for the models. All designers submitting photos will be invited to attend the show and the trends and business seminars hosted by Global Purchasing Group and Citibank respectively during the event.
