The 2003 Fashion Week of the Americas edition featured Designers from Latin America, the Caribbean, US, Canada and Europe. There were Individual Designer Fashion Shows, as well as Designer Showcases, featuring 3 to 5 designers participating in one show. A Designer's Fashion Gallery displayed the most creative and representative outfit from each designer on a form mannequin during the entire event. Concerts, parties and Special Events stirred up Miami's nightlife each night during the whole week. Celebrities, actors, models and International VIP's merged in the crowd. Several of the top US men's and women's wear and accessories buyers and buying offices representing over 100 of the best specialty and department stores in the country were the invited guests of FWA. A panel discussion for the designers was held with the buyers to address the requirements necessary for doing business in the US. The FWA Fashion Awards presentation was the closing event in association with Vogue en español and Fashion TV. Several award categories included the New Star in Fashion, International New Star, Lifetime Achievement in Fashion, Vogue Choice, FWA New Model of the Year, FTV Best of Show, Excellence in Haute Couture, Pret-A-Porter Style plus several music awards to our performing artists. There was also a very special guest performer at the FWA Moda & Music Awards show on closing night. Terra.com, the Spanish language Internet partner and one of the world’s leading Hispanic portals, hosted the FWA minisite on the “Mujer” channel and featured Fashion Week of the Americas on the Homepage, Entertainment and Teen channels. Terra also installed a Press Center with Internet Access. The Roney Palace Resort located at 2399 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach was the FWA host hotel offering special rates to all designers and FWA guests. Fashion Week of the Americas included:
