7TH ANNUAL MIAMI FASHION WEEK OF THE AMERICAS, MAY 11 - 14 AND INTRODUCING THE DEBUT OF CITYSTYLE, MAY 15
South Beach has never hotter than during Miami Fashion Week of the Americas (FWA). Now in its 7 th year, FWA is the largest showcase of Latin American fashion talent in the U.S. Presented by Citi International Personal Banking, FWA takes place May 11 – 14 under the Fashion Tent on the beach at 21 st St. and Collins on Miami Beach, followed by the debut of CityStyle, the fashion/music event for today’s trendsetting, multicultural lifestyle, on Sunday, May 15 .
Thirty-four designers from 14 countries throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, USA, Europe and Asia will introduce their Spring 2006 collections.
FWA’a talent roster includes Italy’s Roberta Scarpa, recipient of FWA’s 2005 Designer of the Year award, Russia’s Vemina Fashion House, Cuba’s Ivonne de la Vega, India’s Aparna Chandra and Mexico’s Pineda Covalin. Accessory designers include Esther Soued, Fassardi & Rohrscheib, Danal International Design Group, Sonia Stephen and Viviane Guenoun, all from Venezuela, Mexico’s Martha Vargas. And, introducing a Miami Designers Showcase, featuring Julian Chang, Samy Gicherman, Nicolas Felizola and Ivonne de la Vega.
Also…. Student Designer Showcase by A.I. Miami International University of Art & Design and the Design and Architecture Senior High School; Furniture Exhibit by McKinley Pierre; Designers’ Fashion Gallery with mannequins representing each designer; and c oncerts and after-parties at the hottest clubs on South Beach.
The MiamiModa & Music Awards brings FWA to a spirited close, with the FWA Designers Choice, Prêt-A-Porter Style and Excellence in Eveningwear and Terra New Model of the Year awards, followed by a special guest entertainer. E mcees are Telemundo’s Candela Ferro and Roberto Angeleri.

CityStyle makes its debut Sunday,May 15. Runway shows spotlight trendsetting lifestyle designers including Sean John Collection, Mia Shvili, Reebok and Taylor and Madison. Capping off the event are performances by PopStarz and the Hip Hop Kidz, with an after-party at Opium Garden on South Beach.
