Victoria Puig de Lange presents SOL CON AGUA Victoria Puig de Lange, who with Beth Sobol was co-founder of Fashion Week of the Americas, presented her book, SOL CON AGUA (tentative title in English: SUNNY RAIN) in a star studded reception, given by SELECTA Magazine and hosted by the Residences at the Ritz Carlton. Barbara Palacios, a well remembered Miss Universe, acted as Master of Ceremonies. SOL CON AGUA, Puig de Lange's autobiographical novel, hits the stands in a flurry of excitement. The author is tremendously popular in Latin American literary circles, and particularly in Miami, where she lives since 1960 and has worn many hats in journalistic and diplomatic endeavors. She served as Consul of her native Ecuador, and as a journalist she took her place on the staff of VANIDADES, ALA (syndicated columnist) HARPER'S BAZAAR (Editor in Chief) and SELECTA, where she writes a column to this day. Abroad, she's correspondent to several newspapes and magazines. Vicki is getting ready for her participation in the agenda of the fifth Fashion Week of the Americas, to be held at the Roney Palace Hotel. "The event" she declares starry eyed "is a pet one with me. I remember the excitement of our first presentation, when we welcomed Carolina Herrera and her newest collection, as our star guest, all the while feeling like we were writing fashion history. It was great! I served as president of the first Council of Latin American designers, and witnessed as the world took notice and incorporated Miami's event to the international Agenda, right after Paris." "Beth Sobol dove into the gigantic task before her and did a fantastic job. Her effort in trying to bring out into the open the talent of Latin American designers, is worthy of the highest kudos." As Victoria points out in her book, in a chapter entitled "The Politics of Fashion," Fashion Week of the Americas made the world take notice of the talent of Latin American designers, establishing them as a powerful reality. A book signing for SOL CON AGUA is scheduled for March l3th at Borders on Kendall and 107th Avenue. The event will start at 8:00 pm. This is a book that can't be put down, a journey through history in which the author takes the reader by the hand, crossing innumerable frontiers where she leaves hunks of her own life, all the while collecting experiences from which memorable lessons can be learned. |
